Welcome to Grand Canyon Log Homes
Owned by Larry & Jeanie Henneforth
Grand Canyon Log Homes is a distributor of Yellowstone Log Homes out of Rigby, Idaho. Yellowstone Log Homes can trace its roots back to 1935 when Lewis Youngstrom started building sawmills and machinery for the woodworking industry. In 1949, he started a saw mill and logging operation in Spencer, Idaho. Even in the early years, the saw mill was cutting house logs. By the mid-1950s the business had been moved to Dubois, Idaho, and Lewis was looking for a new challenge.
In 1962, the first machined house logs were produced. This type of log, with its superior fit and finish, would forever change the industry. Youngstrom Lumber would become Youngstrom Log Homes.
In 1976, Lewis was preparing to retire, so he asked his sons, Lynn and David Youngstrom, what they wanted to do when he stepped down. The answer was simple -- continue to make log homes! They knew the business and had worked with their father over the years.
Yellowstone Log Homes was then started in Rigby, Idaho, where it continues to thrive today. Yellowstone's expansion includes adding multiple log milling machines, a handcrafted division, an inspiring model home/sales office, and a design/drafting department. Yellowstone has manufactured well over 10,000 log homes and at peak season ships up to eight log home packages daily.
Yellowstone attributes its growth to continually upgrading with innovative milling equipment and maintaining affordable pricing. Additionally, the Youngstrom family now combines four generations of experience in providing the industry's premier log homes. The quality, price and availability of Yellowstone Log Homes are unsurpassed. Idaho's arid climate contributes to our reputation for having the driest house logs in the industry. Most of our logs come from standing dead timbers, or they are air-dried for up to five years to ensure a low moisture content. When a log is truly dry, there is a much lower chance of shrinking, cracking, and twisting. Additionally, log homes that are built using standing dead timbers have less settling than that of a kiln-dried or green log home. Many of our customers come back years later and report having little to no settling.
With over 40 years of experience, Yellowstone proudly maintains its reputation for providing the nation's highest quality house logs.
